After learning the craft of masonry from his father, Scott worked as a self-employed stonemason for 26 years. After spending four winters at Pewabic studying the craft of tilemaking, he decided to change his life's work, often joking that he switched to tilemaking because the work was lighter. In 2002, he partially disassembled and moved a post and beam 1870's barn to create a studio for his custom tile work and today, he has created over 80 individual designs using gardening, nature and wildflowers as his primary inspiration.

"My handmade tiles are produced from grey or white stoneware and fired to cone 9 or 6. All glazes are formulated by hand. The designs I use reflect my love of nature and the outdoors."

All ties are hand-pressed, glazes are hand-mixed adn tiles are hand-dipped. Due to this process, some variation in size or color may occur.
