Scott Weaver- Horton, MI Pewabic Pottery student
After learning the craft of masonry from his father, Scott was a self-employed stonemason for 26 years. After spending four winters at Pewabic studyig the craft of tilemaking, he changed his life's work, often joking that he switched to tilemaking because the work was lighter. In 2002, he partially disassembled and moved a post and beam 1870's barn to create a studio for his custom tile work and today, has created over 80 individual designs using gardening, nature and wildflowers as his primary instpiration. Scott also does custom tile work for kitchens and fireplace surrounds.
"My handmade tiles are produced from frey or white stoneware and fired to cone 9 or 6. All glazes are formulated by hand. The designs I use reflect my love of nature and the outdoors."
All tiles are hand-pressed, glazes are hand-mixed and tiles are hand-dipped. Due to this process, some variation in size or color may occur.
