Michael Cohen- Amherst, MA Massachusetts College of Art, BFA Cranbrook Academy, Graduate school Haystack School of Crafts
Michael worked as a professional potter for 48 years when, in 1997, he created a line of tiles that was so popular, he had to stop making pots to keep up with his tile orders! These unique handmade tiles are made by rolling out a 25 lb stoneware clay slab, pressing a string guide intot he clay to map out the tiles, and pressing original stamp designs into them. A brilliant blue glaze is then applied and highlighted with molten glass.
All 6x6" tiles have four protective rubber pads and a hook for hanging on the back, making them equally useful as a trivet or decorative wall hanging.
